  • Sheet Metal gauge/ thickness

I thought maybe get some recommendations on what material thickness others use when constructing various panels. What would be the ideal material thickness both steel and aluminium for say the follow applications.
    • Motorcycle fenders
    • Motorcycle fuel tank
    • Automotive door skins and quarter panels
I Know it would likely vary depending on the type of project say car type and era. Just looking at general rule as a starting point for a beginner like myself.

    Thanks for the help

Only a hobbyist Michael and echo what Peter has said. However after making a Ducati Imola tank last year in 1.6mm, if I were going to polish the tank, understand that a lot of the polished tanks are done in 2.0mm. I'm going to try this for my next cafe racer.
